오랫동안 꿈꾸던 중국 대륙에서 캔버스를 펼쳤다.
현장에서 가슴으로 느끼며 그림 그릴 때 영혼의 강한 울림을 캔버스에 담을 수 있으리라 믿는다.
여러나라를 반복적으로 방문하면서 현장에서 작업했지만 중국은 사회가 많이 달라서 그동안 접근하기 어려웠다. 하지만 예술을 사랑하는 중국인과의 만남은 그들이 더욱 가깝게 와 닿았다.

흐르는 빛처럼 흩날리는 색채
2013년 여름 제주-서귀포-중문 해수욕장에서 바다를 주제로 그림 그릴 때 우연히 만난 중국인과의 인연이 이번에 중국 남쪽 난닝을 찾게 된 계기가 되었다.
당시 바다에서 그림 그릴 때 내 눈을 사로잡은 중국인 가족, 할아버지가 노란 원피스의 귀여운 손녀를 파도를 배경으로 카메라에 담느라 분주했다. 그리고 그 옆에 다정히 함께한 엄마/아빠~~~
당시 매일 수천~수만 명의 중국인들이 그곳을 찾았는데 정감이 넘치는 그들을 캔버스에 담을 수 있어 기뻤다. 그리고 그들과 계속 연락은 이어졌지만 다시 만나지는 못했다.
2014년 위 사연을 한 폭의 그림(한자)으로 표구까지 해서 내게 보내왔다.
아래 글(한자)에 대한 이해를 돕기 위해 그분이 보내온 영문을 함께 공개한다.
It is just around corner to departure to China.
I had many group exhibitions in China and visited shortly before but this is the first time to paint in China.
Here I have attached the three major zone where I will visit and paint. And I would like to open my unforgettable meeting with a Chinese family when I was paint in the Joongmun beach in Jeju island in Korea. Gladly we will get together in Nanning in China very soon.
The attached Chinese worlds are the daughter’s father wrote about me and gave me as a gift.
Finally, I am not sure whether I can use the Facebook and other websites in China as the government art not open in the country.
The flowing light, Flying colors
I write the big Chinese characters, should be read from right to left, it means: "The flowing light, Flying colors."
The following fine print, it means:" in the summer of 2013, my family and I travel to jeju island, met with a painter to paint at the beach, put my daughter painted pictures, thus met Mr.Kim Chang Han, I promised to send a picture of myself to write calligraphy to Mr. Kim Chang Han, but have been very busy, my level is not good, until 2014, when the Spring Festival holiday, I didn't have time to practice, to complete the work, gave Mr. Kim Chang Han."

환대: 중국인 친구(난닝)
중국을 단순배낭 여행 혹은 페키지 상품이 아니라 장기간 여러 곳을 이동하면서 현장에서 유화를 그린다는 것은 결코 쉬운 일이 아니다.
사회체제가 많이 다르고 지방으로 갈수록 영어가 통하지 않기에 곤경에 부딪힐 때가 많다.
만일 인터넷과 스마트폰이 없었더라면 이렇게 중국 아트 투어가 가능했을지 의문이 든다.
혹자는 번역기로 의사소통하면 문제없다고 하는데...이곳 내륙 깊숙한 곳에서 숙소엔 인터넷이 잘 통하지만 작업장인 덕천폭포는 중국에서도 손꼽히는 명소로 잘 정비되어 있지만 인터넷은 거의 연결되지 않는다.
설령 연결된다 해도 번역기로 대화를 나누다보면 전혀 엉뚱하게 번역하는 경우가 많다.
이곳에서 잠깐이었지만 스마트 폰을 잃어버렸다. 폰이 너무나 편리한 만큼 분실 했을 때의 충격은 상상하기 어렵다. 이곳 중국에서의 모든 스케줄과 연락들은 스마트폰으로 이루어지고 있기 때문이다. 그래서 주기적으로 USB에 중요한 것을 따로 옮기는 것이 필요하다.
그런데 이곳 중국 아트 투어를 순조롭게 진행할 수 있도록 많은 도움을 준 건설업을 하는 중국인을 6년 전 제주도에서 우연히 만난 건 내게 중국을 새롭게 볼 수 있는 계기가 됐다. 내게 최선을 다해 도와주고 있다. 아울러 그분의 직장 동료들과도 친분의 폭을 넓혀주기도 했다. 나는 그들을 통해 중국을 가슴으로 느끼면서 그들의 삶을 그리고 나와 이 세상을 다시 보게됐다.
어쩌면 이것이 거대한 대륙 중국 아트 투어에서 얻을 수 있는 가장 값진 소득일 것이다.
언젠가 이곳 남쪽 끝 난닝에서 북쪽 끝까지 그리고 동쪽 끝에서 서쪽 끝까지 대륙을 가로지르는 중국 아트 투어를 할 날을 꿈꿔본다.
Hospitality by a good chinese friends in Nanning
It is not easy to draw the oil paintings on the spot moving China for a long time rather than a simple backpacking or package travel.
There are many times when the social system is very different and the more you go to the province, the more difficult in English.
If there were not Internet and smart phone, it is doubtful that Chinese art tour as long as you are not good in Chinese.
Some people say that when you communicate with a translator, there is no problem ...
I would say that although the internet is good in the inland area but the workplace in Detian Falls, is well-established as one of the best places in China, but the internet is hardly connected.
Even if you are connected, if you have a conversation with a translator, there are many cases where the translation is wrong.
I lost my smartphone at here for a short time. It's hard to imagine the shock of losing a phone as convenient as it is. This is because all schedules and contacts in China are made on the smartphone. So it's essential to periodically move things that are important to USB.
By chance I met a good Chinese who is able to see a China newly. I met him in Jeju Island in Korea six years ago. He is helping me sincerely to make the art tour in China smooth.
Before coming to China and now, he is doing his best to help me with what I need. He also helps me to expand my friendship with his colleagues.
I feel their chest through them, their lives, and I see this world newly.
Perhaps this is the most valuable income I can get from a huge continental China art tour.
One day I dream for the great China art tours across the continent from Nanning to the north end and from the east end to the west end.
중국 : 난닝南宁 -> 덕천폭포德天瀑布
여기는 중국 남쪽 끝으로 베트남과 국경을 마주하고 있는 덕천폭포 구역이다.
난닝에서 버스로 6시간을 타고 도착했다.
이곳으로 오는 주변 풍광도 눈을 떼기 어려울 정도로 멋졌다. 현장에서 본 폭포는 기대 이상으로 환상적이다.
이곳은 마치 요새와 같다. 잘 정돈된 폭포에서 약 1km 떨어진 곳에 몇몇 숙박업체와 식당들이 전부다. 주변은 높은 산들 뿐이다. 이곳 날씨는 열대성 기후로 잠시만 야외에 있어도 온몸은 땀으로 젖지만 시원한 물줄기는 내 그림에 많은 영감과 생동감을 더해주고 있다. 이곳을 찾는 사람들은 대부분 중국인으로 영어는 거의 사용되지 않기에 매우 짧은 내 중국어 실력으로는 의사소통에 많은 어려움이 있지만 매우 친절한 중국인들 덕분에 무사히 그림을 그리기 시작했다.
중국내륙 깊은 곳에서 시작한 나의 현장작업은 대자연의 장엄한 감동과 함께 중국인들의 삶의 모습을 피부로 느끼면서 내 그림에 새로운 영감과 창의적인 표현되라 생각한다.
Nanning - Detian Waterfall
This is the Detian Waterfall Zone facing the border with Vietnam to the southern end of China.
It took six hours by bus from Nanning city.
There are several lodgings and restaurants around 1km away from the waterfall. There are only high mountains around.
The waterfall is fantastic beyond expectations. The weather here is a tropical climate, and even when I'm outdoors for a while, my whole body gets wet with sweat, but the cool water stream adds a lot of inspiration and vitality to my paintings.
Most of the people who visit here are Chinese, so English is rarely used, so my poor Chinese skills are very difficult to communicate with them, but thanks to very kind Chinese people, I started to draw pictures safely.
My art work, which I started in the deep land of China, is thought to be a new inspiration and creative expression in my paintings, feeling the beauty of life of Chinese people with the majestic touch of Mother Nature.
굳바이 난닝, 계림으로 再见南宁，你好桂林
첫 번째 방문지 난닝과 덕천폭포 일정을 마무리하고 계림으로 떠난다.
덕천폭포는 신선들의 세계처럼 자연의 아름다움과 신비스러움이 넘치는 곳이다. 이곳이 현실의 세계인지 꿈속인지 구분하기 어렵다.
아직 이곳은 본격적인 성수기가 아닌데도 평일엔 수천 명 주말엔 수만 명이 찾는다.
난닝은 중국 아트투어 남쪽 지역의 중요한 거점이 되고 있다.
현지에서 건설업을 하는 중국인 조사장과의 인연으로 그의 친구 혹은 직장동료들로 부터 도착할 때부터 떠날 때까지 적극적인 환대와 많은 도움을 받았다. 그들의 배려로 영어에 능통한 분들과 함께 자리하거나 필요한 경우 번역기를 참고하면서 의사소통엔 무리가 없었다.
서로 다른 삶과 세상에 대한 흥미로운 관심사들로 이야기는 늘 흥미진지 했다.
이곳 난닝에서 새로운 그림에 대한 관심과 작품활동의 무대를 넓히는 목적 이외에도 서로에 대한 깊은 이해와 우정을 함께 할 수 있었던 것은 값진 소득이다.
한국과 중국에서 다시 만날 것을 약속하면서 아쉬운 이별을 했다.
이곳에서 그린 다섯 점의 유화작품을 남기면서...
Go to Guilin
The first visit is to finish the Nanning and Detian waterfall schedule and leave for Guilin..
Detian waterfalls is a place full of natural beauty and mystery. It is difficult to tell whether this is a real world or a dream. Though this is not a peak season yet, tens of thousands of people visit on weekend and thousands on weekdays.
For me, Nanning has become an important base in the southern part of China as an Art Tour. The chinese friend helped me a lot from arriving to departure with his friends or co-workers. They were able to communicate with those who were fluent in English as well as referring to the translator if necessary.
More than anything else, the story has always been interesting, with interesting lives and interests.
Here in Nanning, it is a valuable income to have a deep understanding and friendship with each other in addition to the interest in new paintings and the expansion of the stage of the works.
I promised to meet again in Korea and in China and I was sorry to say goodbye.
