다시 호주로
2005년 처음 호주를 갈 때 만 해도 그곳은 낯선 땅이었고 아무도 몰랐다,
NSW 주정부로부터 개인전과 워크삽을 초청받았다. 그 후 2008년 까지 NSW 와 Queensland 의 여러 지역을 방문하면서 많은 인연이 이어졌다. 특히 다양한 작품 활동은 호주뿐만 아니라 한국에까지 인연이 이어졌고 캐나다와 미국작가들도 연결됐다.
9년 만에 추억의 앨범을 다시 펼치니 만감이 교차된다. 지금 생각하면 나는 운이 좋았다. 호주인을 비롯하여 다양한 분들과 뜻깊은 인연이 많았다. 이 모든 것은 전혀 의도하지 않은 백지상태에서 시작됐기에 더욱 그렇다.
모든 것은 내가 그림을 그렸기 때문에 가능했다. 즉 그곳에서 내 그림을 선보였고, 그곳에서 그림을 그렸고, 기타 다양한 활동으로 그들의 관심이 모였기에 가능했다.
사실 이번에 호주를 방문하는 것도 내 그림을 좋아하는 호주분의 적극적인 도움이 컸다.
현지인과 함께 호흡하면서 현지에서 직접 작품 제작하는 것은 현지인의 도움 없이는 어렵다. 이분들은 금년 초 본인이 통도사 박물관(양산)에서 매화를 주제로 개인전 할 때 본인의 작품을 직접보기 위해 한국까지 방문했기에 친분이 깊다.
이번에 호주로 가는 가장 큰 이유도 그들과 함께 더욱 멋진 그림을 그리기 위함이다.
호주는 작업에 영감을 주는 것들이 넓은 땅만큼 풍부하다. 이번에 특별히 내 눈을 사로잡은 것은 나를 호주로 초대한 분의 정원에 있는 나무(Bottlebrush grevillea) 와 이 나무에 모여드는 새 (Kookaburra, Rainbow Lorikeet ...)이다.
매우 평범한 나무지만 볼수록 매력적입니다. 거칠고 앙상하지만 강인한 생명력이 느껴진다. 정말 매력적이다. 수많은 새들이 온종일 날아오는 이유는 나뭇가지 끝에 쥬스 혹은 작은 열매를 먹는 것 같다. 제한된 공간 때문인지 새들끼리 경쟁도 치열한 것이 흥미롭다.
Again Australia
I couldn’t have visited there since 2008.
But I had very good results in many ways.
The first visit was in 2005, at that time there was no one that I knew and I didn’t have any information. But since then, I have been lucky to meet many good friends who love my art. And the activity/relationship grows many significant results internationally.
Actually this trip to Australia is encouraged by people in Brisbane who love my art very much. They also visited my country in the early of this year to enjoy my art. It was a great meeting through endless connection with the people in the world.
Whenever I go and whatever I do, I focus on enjoying/sharing the art as well as to developing my art. What a wonderful world and the people.
My major focus to visit this country was to develop my art through the vibrant diversity of beauty of Australia.
There are many attractive things in this country but I have noticed in this tree Bottlebrush grevillea with the birds (Kookaburra, Rainbow Lorikeet , etc ) in Barbara's beautiful garden.
Those are unique and quite different beauty than anything else in this energtic country. The more I look at that the more I am interested....
What a wonderful world.
I thought seriously how should I paint the beauty of Australia especially here in Queensland in Brisbane.
I was guided by many birds' singing in the garden in the early morning.
And noticed an attractive brighten reddish flower of Bottlebrush.
I suddenly started to paint that subject all day. It was a good decision to paint that. At night we had a big dinner with a joyful company...
What a wonderful evening enjoyed by all ~~~

이곳에서 맘껏 작품 할 수 있도록 모든 지원을 아끼지 않은 바바라 가족에 감사하고 특별히 이분들이 하는 사업 '로스트 머니'를 소개한다.
이 일을 집에서 가족이 (여직원 포함) 함께 함으로써 보통 눈만 뜨면 직장으로 나가는 사람들과 많은 비교가 된다.
어쨌든 9년 만에 다시 찾은 호주는 우연히 만난 호주인들과 함께 꿈같은 시간을 보내면서 모든 것을 이곳에 남기고 2018년을 기약하기로 했다.
About the Lost Money Detective

It was a great opportunity meeting with the true Aussie.
We shared a lot of things not only in Korea but also in Australia. Now I am in Brisbane taking the last night with them.
It is a good learning the true Aussie life style.
I got a strong impression about their major business of the 'Lost Money Detectives '
They work at home with their adult son and office lady. So they get together everyday.
As you know most of people are parting when they get up morning and get out for working but this office all share their days and evenings for 3 days a week together.
But we live very short time with the family.
Anyway I asked to Barbara what is the Lost Money detectives. She replied as followings.

To be honestly speaking, the home food were much more delicious and lovely than the restaurant.
I can't forget their great invitation.

호주 골드코스트의 상징인 서퍼스 파라다이스 메인 비치를 12년 전과 비교하면서 너무 많이 변한 것에 놀라움을 감출 수 없었다.
다시 메인 비치 입구 주변엔 아름다운 조형물들과 조용한 바다와 자연의 아름다움을 만끽할 수 있었는데 지금은 그 앞에 도로가 생겼고 초고층 빌딩들이 주변을 감싸고 있었다.
무엇보다 당시 고급스런 여러 갤러리들이 외곽으로 모두 나가거나 문을 닫았다.
당시 본인은 호주 여러 지역의 화랑에서 그림을 전시했는데 이곳 서퍼스 파라다이스에서 가장 큰 규모의 화랑인 '갤러리 콜렉션'을 이젠 볼 수 없어서 많은 아쉬움이 남는다. 이곳은 이제 거대한 상업 지역이자 유흥지역으로 변하고 있다. 그리고 예전엔 전혀 느낄 수 없었던 교통 체증과 주차 문제로 복잡하다.
Before 2005 and Now 2017 in the Surfers Paradise in Gold Coast.
I was surprised when I visit the Surfers Paradise main beach yesterday.
Many things are changed a lot.
I think 2005 was much better and more artistic city to look at.
In addition at that time there were many beautiful galleries.
Here I am posting the memory of 2005 and right now.
I will try to post 8 oil paintings about 10 days later which I painted in Burleigh Heads and Surfers Paradise.
오랜 호주 친구들
2005년 이후 지금까지 인연이 이어지고 있는 호주 분들 중 이번에 만났던 인상 깊은 두 분을 소개한다.
두 분 모두 그림을 그리면서 깊은 산속에 직접 지은 그림 같은 집에서 산다.
첫 번째 분은 아직도 공사가 끝나지 않았다 약 20년째 짓고 있다. 더 상세한 얘기는 하기 어렵다. 남편은 예술 가구를 만드는 직업을 갖고 있다.
두 번째 분의 집도 깊은 산속에 있는데 몇 년 전 남편은 세상을 떠났지만 은퇴하기 전엔 비행기 조종사였다.
두 분의 특별한 예술적 취향으로 많은 동물과 가족이 됐고 집안은 수많은 미술작품과 해외를 여행하면서 수집한 것들이 마치 박물관 같다. 두 분 가족의 호의로 한동안 그들 집에 머물면서 그림을 그렸고 후한 대접을 받았다. 10년을 한결 같이 친절하게 나를 반겨준 그분들께 깊은 감사드린다.
The two old friends of Aussie
I met them in 2005 when I had an invited solo exhibition by the city council of Tweed Heads with a workshop.
I met them again a couple days ago since my last visiting in 2008.
They are painters as well as a good art lovers. Especially I can't stop to open their amazing beautiful house in the bush.
The first woman's house located in a national park. Their house was constructing about 20 years but until continuing. Mostly they are making the house them selves.
Her husband makes a good furniture too.
The second woman's house located in a deep bush too. Her husband' s job was a pilot.
Sadly 5 years ago he was pass away. They made a beautiful house them selves too.
They also collecting lots of attractive things.
It was a beautiful memory that I made a good friends with them for a long time. I can't forget that I was staying their beautiful house and had a warm-hearted meals from them.
오랜 호주 친구와 깊은 산속에 위치한 조각가 집/작업장을 방문했다.
약 30명 모였다. 말이 작업장/집이지 만평이 넘는 엄청난 공간이다. 호주에서 사귄 지인 분들과 새로 만난 분들 모두 반가웠다.호주인들의 삶과 문화를 체험한 뜻 깊은 시간이었다.

서퍼들의 천국 골드코스트/ 벌리
일출부터 일몰까지 작업에만 몰두하기에도 분주한 시간이다. 이곳은 호주인 다음으로 중국인 단체관광객들이 많다. 현지인 얘기론 옛날엔 일본인들이 가장 많았으나 요즘엔 한국인이 가장 많고 그다음이 중국인 이라고 했다.
현장에서 작업하는 내 모습에 많은 사람들이 발길을 멈추고 관심 있게 지켜보는데 중국인 관광객 중 중학교 영어 교사로 학생들과 단체로 여행 온 분과 얘기를 나누었다. 어쨌든 이곳 벌리는 서퍼들의 천국답게 끝없이 밀려오는 파도와 폭발적인 에너지가 넘친다. 살아 숨 쉬는 예술이다!!!
