하늘을 나는 오리
Flying Ducks in the sky
요새처럼 급경사로 높은 바위에 둘러싸인 이곳은 작은 물줄기가 흐르는 계곡에 위치한 매우 특별한 곳으로 룩셈부르크에서 내 그림의 첫 번째 주제로 결정된 곳이다. 오전 일찍 시작된 작업은 오후로 접어들면서 변화가 일어났다. 즉 잔잔한 계곡의 물위를 오고가는 오리들이 어느 순간부터 규칙적으로 날기 시작했다. 그리고 약 200m 높이 계곡의 바위 최고봉에까지 날아가 앉기도 했다.
하늘을 나는 오리들,
그들은 내게 자유와 평화 사랑을 일깨우고 있었다. 이곳이 그 옛날 감옥소였고 요새였음을 생각하면 근 험난한 새월 동안 이곳에서 살았던 사람들의 꿈을 이 순간에도 하늘을 나는 오리들은 그들의 희망을 상징적으로 보여주고 있었다. 나는 또한 이곳을 찾는 수많은 관광객들의 한 사람으로서 자유와 평화 그리고 사랑을 갈구한다. 작품에 담긴 이야기를 내 그림에 관심 있어 하는 다양한 국적의 사람들에게 얘기하자 매우 흥미롭게 감상했다. 이곳 룩셈부르크에서 프랑스 분과 결혼한 뒤 수십 년 동안 살고 있는 관장님의 별명이 한국식 발음으로 '오리' 이다. 그분 차로 작업 현장에 데려다 주면서 이곳 계곡에 오리가 많다고 얘기했는데... 우연의 일치였는지 하늘을 나는 오리는 특별한 인연으로 다가왔다.
Here in Luxembourg, I started to paint on a big size canvas.
Firstly the old Fortress in the valley was interested very much, especially in the prison before. Now many tourists are visiting here as well as the local citizen.
It was my first subject for the big size canvas in the city.
But I looked carefully all day. And then I realized that there are many ducks in the stream.
Everytime they were come and go with swim. And I watched the two ducks were flying regularly in the valley or flew over the valley. It was a wonderful subject for the new painting. The flying ducks came to me as a symbol of Freedom, Peace and Love. What a wonderful story in the valley of Luxembourg.
