햇살이 눈부신 날 - 룩셈부르크 첫 주
이곳 햇살은 눈부시고 연일 날씨는 환상이다.
이곳에서 펼치는 그림은 늘 새로운 것에 대한 도전과 설레임의 연속이다. 자연과 인간 그리고 삶에 대한 본질적인 질문을 내 작품세계에서 더욱 다양하게 시도해 본다.
이곳에 도착한 뒤 일주가 지났다.
매일 작업 강행 덕분에 작업 진도는 빠르게 진행되고 있다. 거리에서 그릴 때는 많은 사람들과 만났다. 너무 많은 사람들을 대하다 보니 기억이 가물 하다.
파리에서 부터 이곳까지 많은 것을 처리 하는라 몸살이 났다. 대충 낫겠다고 생각되지만...내일은 이곳에 유명한 사우나에서 긴장된 몸 좀 풀련다. 근데 여긴 남여 공용탕이란다.... 그곳에서도 캔버스 펼치고 그림 그릴 수 있을런지~~~
Sunny days
Here in Luxembourg, everyday it is sunny and the temperature is lovely. I am trying to many diverse subject on my canvas.
Everyday it was an exciting moment with the art and meeting with many new people while I paint outdoor. Anyway I just was concentrating on my own art in the city.
The boy gave me that one as a gift after deep appreciation.
한동안 내 그림에 푹 빠진 뒤 자신의 소중한 물건을 내게 선물한 소년!!
예술을 사랑하는 마음이 나를 기쁘게 한다.

아름다운 만남
A beautiful meeting
이곳 룩셈부르크에서 그림 그릴 때 만난 전 세계에서 모인 각양각색의 사람들 중 몇 일전 우연히 한 여인Anne Schmitt 을 만났고 그녀의 아름다운 정원에서 그림 그릴 수 있게 되었다.
전직 언론인 출신인데 지금도 글을 쓰고 있고 책도 여러 권 발간했는데 특히 미술/작가에 관한 것이 눈에 띠었다.
매일 그곳을 방문할 때마다 따뜻한 미소와 내 그림에 대해 진정으로 기쁜 마음으로 대해준다. 그리고 이분은 다섯 개 언어를 구사한다.
이곳 룩셈부르크에서 만난 사람들 대부분 3~4개의 외국어를 사용할 줄 안다.
전 세계에서 일인당 국민소득이 가장 높은 나라여서 그런가~~~ 아무튼 놀라울 따름이다.
그리고 이곳 거리는 왜 이리도 깨끗한지 내 눈을 의심 하지 않을 수 없다.
어쨌든 내 그림에 대해 진정성 있게 행복한 마음으로 반겨주는 그분의 정원에서 그림 그리게 된 것은 유럽에서 잊을 수 없는 추억이다.
이분의 탁월한 언어구사력과 섬세한 감수성에 내 그림에 대한 풍부한 것들이 어우러져서 내 그림에 대한 글을 부탁했고 흔쾌히 승낙하셨다...
어떤 글이 나올지 기대가 크다.
Recently I was invited to a wonderful garden by a Luxembourg woman's house.
So I began to paint her garden for the vibrant nature. I met her by accidently while I paint on the street.
Before her occupation was a journalist in the city. She still writes especially about art or artist. To my surprise she can speaks or understand five languages.
Most of all I am very happy that I can paint in her vibrant peaceful garden. She always brighten me up and admire my art.
I think that she has very good eye on art and loves art very much.
So I asked her to write about my art or the impression of my art in French or Germany. So now we are having an exciting time.
Hopefully to share her beautiful words and my new works from her garden soon.
사우나 에서 스케치할때 85도 온도라서 땀이 비 오듯 하기에 이렇게 메모지를 비닐에 담아서 스케치를 했다. 실내가 어두워서 잘 안보였지만 환상이었다.
이곳은 Therme 라고 하는데 공공 사우나의 흥미로운 인상을 그리는 것이다.
상상하기 힘든 거대한 축구경기장 규모의 공간에서 실내 혹은 실외에서 다양한 사우나를 남녀가 옷을 모두 벗고 즐기는 모습은 충격적이지만 정말 아름답고 신선하다.
이것을 주제로 그림 그리는 것이 쉽지 않다. 절대로 사진을 찍을 수 없고 그곳에서 그림 그리는 것도 불가능하기에 아주 작은 메모지에 스케치라도 해서 캔버스에 유화로 시작하게 되었다. 이 일은 우연히 길거리에서 그림 그릴 때 만난 현지 경찰관이 내 그림을 좋아해서 친구가 되었고 그곳 사우나까지 몇 차례 차로 태워주고 그곳에서 처음부터 끝까지 일일이 허락을 받고 스케치 할 수 있도록 옆에서 도와주었기에 가능했다. 이분이 룩셈부르크에서 7년째 경찰관으로 일하고 있는 천사같은 분이다.
이곳에서의 삶의 많은 이야기를 들으면서 이곳에 대한 이해에 큰 도움이 되었다.
이곳 룩셈부르크는 많은 것들이 낯설고 어색하고 불편하지만 너무 깨끗하고 질서 있고 아름답고 신비로운 것들이 많고 무엇보다 친절하고 순수한 현지인들과 다양한 외국인들의 내 그림에 대한 특별한 관심이 점점 이곳에 정을 느끼게 한다. 이곳에 초대해주시고 많은 도움을 주신 관장님과 부군 크리스토 님께 깊이 감사한다.
It is a kind of public Sauna/Spa in Luxembourg where men and women are enjoying wet and dry sauna, all naked. To me as a Korean the scene looked very interesting, so I decided to paint it.
Painters are not allowed to work inside a sauna with naked people. I wanted to draw small sketches to memories the "Aufguss" performance at one of a Sauna room: This is the most popular and crowded room, every hour, where men and women sit together and watch swimsuit clad staff (girl or man) special performance: they pour a watered down fruit extract (orange, lemon, melon) or herbs on the heater and ventilate the hyper hot fragrance vapor to the sweating nude bodies. What a wonderful feeling.
And I could't stop to talk about it to a policeman in Luxembourg. He is very interested in my art and supporting me a lot, so my adventurous new art is owing to his great helping me. Because even drawing onto a small paper, I needed the patron's permission. He went with me and used his police status to ask and received permission from the staff and curious clients. He is an angel.

Hwa Rang Do - Taejoon Lee
룩셈부르크에서 화랑도 대표 이태준 국사님을 만난 것은 특별한 인연이다.
늘 그림에서 역동적인 움짐임이 강조된 것을 즐겨 그리는 입장에서 화랑도는 도 혹은 정신세계의 또 다른 경지를 내 그림 세계에 어떻게 반영할지 앞으로 매우 흥미롭다.

It was a great meeting with the Grandnaster Taejoon Lee recently in Luxembourg.
As a Plein Air painter as well as interested in the part of movement. He is very special to put on canvas for another spiritual world.
Hwa Rang Do is a kind of Martial Art. I think it was started from Korea and now world wide philosophy Martial Art.
