Impressions from Afar

  해외활동은 2002년 미국을 방문하면서 시작했다.

2005년부터 호주(N.S.W., QLD)를 여러차례 방문하면서 그림의 변화를 찾기 시작했고 이후 미국과 일본도 몇 차례 방문했다. 2014년 러시아, 2016년 캄보디아에서도 그림을 그렸다. 그러나 당시엔 예술고등학교 미술교사로 재직하고 있었기에 오랜 머물 수 없었다.

  본격적으로 해외활동을 시작한 것은 미술교사 직을 명퇴한 2018년 부터였다.

2018년 유럽 61일(프랑스/룩셈부르크/독일), 호주 56일, 미얀마 14일,

2019년 유럽 44일(독일/룩셈부르크/프랑스), 호주 44일, 중국 30일, 미얀마 30일.

2023년 유럽 36일(프랑스/독일/이탈리아), 호주 41일,

  2024년 유럽 34일(독일/네델란드), 베트남 16일, 중국 14일 동안 작품활동을 했다.

해외작품활동은 현지에서 그들의 삶을 이해하면서 문화의 다양성과 새로운 작품세계를 탐구하면서 세계를 무대로 활동하는 것이다.

  I started painting overseas when I visited the United States in 2002.Since 2005, I frequently visited Australia (N.S.W., QLD) and began to look for changes in the paintings, as well as the United States and Japan.I also painted in 2014 Russia and 2016 Cambodia. At that time, however, I was a full time art teacher of art high school, so I could not get enough time.

  It was in 2018 that I started full time painting overseas include solo exhibitions and workshops. Europe (France/ Luxembourg/Germany) 61 days, Australia 56 days, Myanmar 14 days in 2018. Europe (Germany/Luxembourg/France) 44 days, Australia 44 days, China 30 days, Myanmar 30 days in 2019. Europe (France/Germany/Italy) 36 days, Australia 41 days in 2023. Europe (Germany/Netherlands) 34 days, Vietnam 16 days, China 14 days in 2024.

  Working overseas means working on a global stage while understanding the lives of local people and exploring cultural diversity and new worlds of art.  

A,호주

호주는 사회시스템이 잘 갖추어진 것과 민주주의가 발달한 것은 편안한 마음으로 그곳에서 작품활동 할 수 있는 매력적인 곳이다. 한국과는 계절이 반대인 것도 장점이다.

많은 호주 사람들은 친절하고 교양있고 예술에 관심이 많다. 그래서 쉽게 호주인들과 친구가 되었다. 그러나 자연은 매우 거칠고 넓은 땅만큼 변화무쌍하고 야생동물은 위협적이고 태양은 살인적이지만 야생의 순수한 아름다움이 넘치는 곳으로 앞으로 계속 호주를 방문하면서 그림 그리고 싶은 많은 것들이 있다.

A, Australia

Australia is an attractive place where I can paint comfortably because of its well-established social system and developed democracy. Another advantage is that the seasons are opposite to those in Korea.

Many Australians are friendly, cultured and interested in the arts. So I easily became friends with Australians. However, the nature is very rough and as varied as the vast land, the wild animals are threatening and the sun is murderous, but it is a place full of pure wild beauty, and there are many things I want to paint while visiting Australia in the future.

 B, 유럽 : 독일, 룩셈부르크, 프랑스, 이탈리아, 네델란드

  유럽에서 내가 가장 관심을 갖는 것은 오랜 역사와 현대문명이 조화를 이루면서 역동적인 자연과 균형을 이루는 건강한 삶의 모습이다. 즉, 독일 뮌헨의 리버서핑과 유럽의 다양한 해양문화/스포츠활동 그리고 네델란드를 선두고 많은 유럽 사람들의 일상적인 자전거 이용은 친환경적이고 삶의 활기가 넘친다.

  유럽사람들의 전통을 존중하고 보존/계승/발전하면서 건강하고 인간적으로 살아가는 모습은 내 그림에 많은 영감을 준다.

세계 미술여행- 유럽 3개국의 인상!

  첫째 - 가장 인상깊은 것은 유럽 3개국 사람들과 이곳을 찾는 수많은 사람들의 다양한 언어구사력이다. 프랑스/독일인들은 보통 3개, 룩셈부르크 사람들은 4개 언어를 일상적으로 쓰는 것은 매우 인상적이다. 세계화와 개인의 자아 실현의 가장 중요한 조건은 다양한 언어구사력이다.

  둘째 – 이번에 방문한 유럽 3개국에서 그림 그리면서 많은 사람들을 만났다. 그들 대부분은 내 그림에 특별한 관심을 보였다. 즉, 이번 유럽-아트 투어를 통해 나는 내 그림이 세계인들의 보편적인 미의식에 상당한 호감을 끈 점에 대해 자부심을 갖는다.

그동안 노력해온 작품을 국제적인 보편성과 잘 조화시키면 얼마든지 세계를 무대로 작품활동 할 수 있겠다는 확신을 갖게 됐다.

  세째 - 한국인에 대해 많은 호감과 다양한 분야에 높은 관심을 갖고 있는 것을 느꼈다. 서로 다른 문화에 대한 상호 존중과 이해를 바탕으로 함께 발전하는 것이 중요함을 느낀다.

네째 – 두 달 동안 43점을 현장에서 그릴 수 있었다는 것에 큰 보람을 갖는다. 이렇게 그릴 수 있도록 도와준 많은 분들께 감사드린다.

 B, Europe : Germany, Luxembourg, France, Italy, Netherlands

  What I am most interested in in Europe is the healthy lifestyle that is in balance with dynamic nature while harmonizing long history and modern civilization. For example, river surfing in Munich, Germany, various marine culture/sports activities in Europe, and the daily use of bicycles by many Europeans, led by the Netherlands, are eco-friendly and full of vitality in life.

  The way European people live healthily and humanely while respecting their traditions and preserving/inheriting/developing them provides a lot of inspiration for my paintings.

World Art Journey – On Street, the impression of the three countries in Europe

  First - What is the most impressive thing is the diverse language skills of the people from the three European countries and the numerous people who visit here. It is very impressive that French/Germans usually speak three languages ​​and Luxembourgers speak four languages ​​on a daily. The most important condition for globalization and individual self-realization is the ability to speak various languages.

  Second – I met many people while painting in the three European countries I visited this time. Most of them were special interest in my paintings. Through this Europe-Art Tour, I am proud that my paintings have attracted a great deal of favor with the universal aesthetic sense of people around the world.

I became convinced that if I harmonized the work I had been working on with international universality, I could work on the world stage.

  Third - I felt that there are a lot of sympathy for Koreans and a high level of interest in various fields of Korean culture. I feel that it is important to develop together based on mutual respect and understanding of different cultures.

  Forth - I feel greatly rewarded for being able to paint 43 paintings on site about two months. I am grateful to the many people who helped me paint like this.

 C, 중국. 미얀마, 캄보디아, 러시아, 일본, 베트남

  아시아의 넓은 땅과 다양한 자연은 늘 현장에서 그림 그리고 싶은 호기심을 불러일으키고, 많은 인구와 다양한 민족 그리고 오랜 역사와 문화도 풍부한 예술적 영감을 준다.

  나는 태초의 신비로움을 간직한 자연과 역동적인 삶의 모습을 중심으로 현장에서 작업을 즐기는데, 관심있는 지역을 가능한 반복적으로 방문하면서 문화의 다양성을 피부로 접하면서 내 그림에 깊이를 더하면서 새로운 표현을 하려고 노력 한다.

C, China, Myanmar, Cambodia, Russia, Japan, Vietnam

  Asia's vast land and diverse nature always arouse the curiosity to paint in the field, and its large population, diverse ethnic groups, and long history and culture also provide rich artistic inspiration.

  I enjoy working in the field with a focus on nature, which retains the mystery of the beginning, and the dynamic aspects of life. By repeatedly visiting regions of interest as much as possible, I gain first-hand experience with cultural diversity, adding depth to my paintings. Try to come up with new expressions.

D, 미국

  미국은 2002년부터 지금까지 여러차례 방문하면서 현지에서 그림을 그렸고, 개인전과 아트페어를 통해 작품을 발표했는데 아직도 많은 가능성이 있는 기회의 땅이다. 첨단 과학문명과 전세계 미술시장의 상당 부분을 차지하는 활발한 움직임도 흥미롭다.

  해외여행에 전혀 관심이 없던 나는 2002년 한국에서 사귄 미국인 친구의 권유로 처음 해외여행을 미국으로 갔다. 이후 지금까지 해외 많은 국가를 방문했지만 대부분 작품활동과 관계된 것이었는데, 2002년 3주 동안 가족과 함께한 미국 여행은 지금도 잊지 못할 추억으로 남아있다.

D, USA

  Since 2002, I have visited the United States several times and painted there, and presented my work through Solo Exhibitions and Art Fairs. It is still a land of opportunity with many possibilities. The cutting-edge scientific civilization and active movements that account for a significant portion of the global art market are also interesting.

  I, who had no interest in traveling abroad, went on my first overseas trip to the United States in 2002 at the recommendation of an American friend I made in Korea. Since then, I have visited many countries overseas, but most of them were related to work, but the three-week trip to the United States with my family in 2002 still remains an unforgettable memory.
