Lainie Cooper was born in Sydney, NSW, Australia in 1945. Taking Art to Year12, she went on to work in Advertising and Commercial Photography until 1982, when she moved with her family to the Gold Coast in Queensland. Here she developed an interest in sculpting the human form and joined the Gold Coast Sculptors Society, taking many workshops and training under the tuition of many well known artists and sculptors. Lainie decided to go back to formal study when her four sons were grown and completed a Bachelor of Visual Art, Fine Art, Bachelor of Education (Majoring in Art and History), Graduate Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language and Master of Education. Teaching full time Art at a local high school on the Gold Coast, Lainie also teaches an adult class in sculpting at the Gold Coast Sculptors Society, of which she is Secretary, still taking as many workshops as possible to improve skills, knowledge and to satisfy her passion for art. ¡°Art is my passion, to use all forms of media tools, including painting, sculpting, photography and digital imagery to express the concept that is in my minds eye is important to me. For art is a form of communication, artists have made art since time began that transcends time, race, culture and creed. I speak to the viewer through my art, of love, beauty, peace and nature, using the elements of form, line, shape, colour and texture and hope that they might smile and understand my secret thoughts.¡± Lainie Cooper. 3 Individual exhibitions. including Parker¡¯s Gallery, New York in 1997. 46 group exhibitions, including 2 group exhibitions in Fukuoka, Japan in 2002. Lainie Cooper has received many awards for her work, which represented in collections all over Australia and overseas. |
