개인웹사이트 업데이트 : 세월의 향기


25년(2001~2024) 동안 사용한 노트북이 멈춘 후 웹사이트 제작도구 ‘나모 웹에디터’를 더 이상 사용할 수 없어서 한동안 난감했지만 수소문 끝에 새(10년 이상 지난 구형) 노트북에 ‘윈도우 XP’와 ‘나모 웹에디터’를 설치 후 한 달 이상 업데이트 작업에 몰두 중이다.

언젠가는 ‘나모 웹에디터’를 더 이상 사용할 수 없을 것 같아 웹사이트 프로그램 자체를 바꾸는 것도 고려했지만 현실성과 실효성에 많은 의문이 들었다. HTML을 기반으로 한 ‘나모 웹에디터’는 앞으로 10년 이상 충분히 활용 가능할 것이라는 현실적인 판단도 있었다.

추후 ‘나모 웹에디터’가 새로운 인터넷/시스템 환경에서 이용 불가해도 나의 작품활동 기록은 영원히 남을 수 있고 대중과 소통엔 큰 문제없을 것이다.

25년 동안 개인 웹사이트에 정리된 그림/활동기록은 아래와 같다.

- 1980년대 중반부터 2024년까지 작품을 주제/연도/크기별로 구분
- 약 1,700점의 작품 수록
- 약 400점은 판매/임대/물물교환/선물로 내 품을 떠났다. 많은 작품은 서울/수도권과 울산에 소장되고 있고, 나머지는 전국에 흩어져 있다.
- 약 60점은 해외 10여개 국가의 미술애호가 분들께 갔다.
- 현재 내가 보관/관리하고 있는 작품은 해외(유럽/호주/중국/미얀마/베트남)에 약 100점, 국내에 약 1천점이 조금 넘는다.

아울러 이제부터 동영상 제작법을 익혀 유튜브를 중심으로 작품활동의 다양한 모습을 적극적으로 알리려 한다.
25년 전, 나의 웹사이트는 개인 자료실/포트폴리오용으로 사용하다가 일반인과의 소통도구로 활용되기 시작했다. 이후 인터넷의 급속한 발전으로 지금은 다양한 방식으로 소통되고 있지만 모든 것은 특정 업체를 통해서만 사용되기에 다양한 서비스와 편리함에도 불구하고 근본적인 이용제한과 해킹 등 한순간에 모든 것이 날아갈 수 있는 한계가 있다. 하지만 개인 웹사이트는 영구적이고 위와 같은 문제점을 쉽게 극복할 수 있다.

미술대학 졸업 후 약 40년간 쉬지 않고 작품 활동을 이어오고 있지만 시간이 지날수록 그림의 깊이와 흥미가 새롭게 와 닿는다. 그러나 전업 작가로서 그림을 팔아 생활과 활동경비를 마련해야하면서, 작품을 관리/보관해야할 량/수가 많아지는 것에 대해 고민이 적지 않다.

따라서 그림을 계속 그리는 것도 중요하지만 질(예술성)적인 성장/발전이 더욱 중요하기에 수십년간 그렸던 그림과 활동을 체계적으로 정리하고 데이터베이스 Database화해서 그 가치를 새롭게 만들어 가는 것이 매우 중요함을 느낀다.

이런 관점에서 앞으로 개인 웹사이트는 25년 전 처음 문을 열었을 때처럼 작품활동에 관한 기록관리/포트폴리오에 충실할 것이고, 유익한 내용을 꾸준히 업데이트해서 지속적으로 예술적 가치를 높이도록 노력 할 것이다.

After used my laptop for 25 years (2001-2024) stopped working, I was in the air for a while because I could no longer work the website creation tool 'Namo Web Editor', but after some inquiry, I was able to install 'Windows XP' and the tool on a new laptop (older than 10 years old). After installing ‘Web Editor’, I have been working on updates for over a month.

I thought I would no longer be able to use ‘Namo Web Editor’ someday, so I considered changing the website program itself, but I had many doubts about its reality and effectiveness. There was also a realistic judgment that ‘Namo Web Editor’, which is based on HTML, will be fully usable for the next 10 years or more.
Even if it cannot be used in the new Internet/system environment in the future, the record of my work will remain forever and there will be no big problems to share with the public.

The paintings and activity records arranged on my personal website for 25 years are as follows.

- Classification of works from the mid-1980s to 2024 by subject/year/size
- Contains approximately 1,700 paintings
- About 400 paintings left my possession through sold/lease/barter/gift. Many paintings are housed in Seoul area and in Ulsan, while others are collected throughout the country.
- Approximately 60 paintings went to art lovers in over 10 countries.
- The works I currently store/manage are about 100 overseas (Europe/Australia/China/Myanmar/Vietnam) and a little over 1,000 in Korea.

In addition, from now on, I plan to learn making videos and actively promote the various aspects of my work through YouTube.
25 years ago, my website was used as a personal Archive/Portfolio and then began to be used as a communication tool with the general public. Since then, with the rapid development of the Internet, communication is now available in a variety of ways, but everything is only used through specific companies, so despite the variety of services and convenience, there are limitations such as fundamental restrictions on use and hacking, where everything can disappear in an instant. However, personal websites are permanent and easy to solve many problems.

After graduating from art college, I have been painting non-stop for about 40 years, but as time passes, the depth and interest of my Art come to me in new ways. However, as a full-time artist, I have to sell my paintings to cover living expenses and activities, and I have many concerns about the increasing amount and number of works I need to manage/store safely.

Therefore, it is important to continue painting, but qualitative (artistic) growth/development is even more important, so I think that it is very important to systematically organize and manage (database) of my paintings and activities I have painted for decades and create new value.

From this perspective, in the future, my personal website will remain faithful to the record Management/Portfolio of Artistic activities as it did when it was first opened 25 years ago, and will strive to continuously update useful content to continuously increase Artistic value.
